The Wolues FC and Sugar Boys FC both maintained 100 % records in the FA Super 6 Tournament, beating One Love FC and Rebels FC respectively over the weekend.

Playing at the FA’s new stadium venue in East End / Long Look, the Wolues took the lead in the first half when Robbie Green broke clear of the defence and left the keeper stranded with a square ball for Chester James to roll into the empty net. Late in the second half, the Wolues were made to pay for not making the most of several opportunities when One Love equalized after Richard Morgan collected a lofted pass, escaped a defender, and finished nicely into the net.

However, the Wolues regained the lead with 10 minutes left to play when Green lofted the ball over the outrushing goalkeeper after collecting a Phil Nelson through ball and the win was left in no doubt when Noel Maxwell escaped down the right-hand side and found Green who had time to slot home his second of the game, making the final score 3-1.

The Sugar Boys are level on points with the Wolues, but second on goal difference after beating the Rebels 1-0 at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground, courtesy of a 36th minute strike from Derrol Redhead.

And in the other game played over the weekend, also at the VGRG, The Panthers FC had a brace from Nigel Sanderson to thank for a 2-1 victory over VG Utd, who had taken the lead in the 11th minute. League top scorer, Sanderson, then netted his 7th and 8th goals in the 19th minute from the penalty spot and 21st minute to secure all 3 points.

Having gone behind early the Panthers response was immediate leaving Coach Wayne Phillip a happy man “We started pressuring their defence and keeping possession of the ball” he said, “I’m immensely proud of Nigel (Sanderson) as he continues to dominate the league, also the midfield that kept breaking up play and forcing VG to play the ball backwards.”
