Thanks to a 3-1 win against One Love FC, on Sunday, the Sugar Boys FC took sole possession of top spot in the Super 6 Tournament ahead of the idle Wolues FC.
Playing at home on the VG Recreation Ground, the Boys had control of the ball for long periods with a 4-5-1 formation allowing for a midfield dominance. Terry Nanton put the hosts ahead in the 9th minute before putting together a string of passes to delight their fans that led to first, Derrol Redheads 5th goal of the campaign in the 52nd minute and then Mohammed Kachour making sure of all 3 points in the 78th minute. Taj Parchment scored a late consolation for One Love in added time at the end of regulation time from the penalty spot.
In the other results and on the VGRG, Lion Heart FC slid into 5th place in the standings with a 2-0 victory against One Caribbean, despite missing several key players. Playing positive football, they stuck to their game plan and got the reward late on.
The game was in stalemate right up until the 82nd minute when Shevaughn Thomas put his side on the way to 3 points, which outcome Nicarlous Wan made sure of in the 89th minute.
Meanwhile at the FA Headquarters in East End / Long Look, the Islanders FC made it four wins in four with a far from flowing 1-0 win over Panthers FC.
Panthers, who are 4th in the table, in fact dominated the early passages of play, creating far more chances, but left to rue not converting any of them as in the 58th minute Islanders took advantage of a defensive lapse by the Panthers from a throw in, to score the games only goal via the boot of Anfernee Johnson.
The Islanders are now in 3rd place on 12 points, whilst the top six is rounded out by One Love FC.
