Sugar Boys FC beat One Caribbean FC, 10-0, to further cement their table topping position, but Panthers FC stayed in touch with a 4-2 victory against Wolues FC as action continued in the National League last weekend.

The weekend produced a season high thirty-two goals over the five games played, but none was more emphatic than the Sugar Boys demolition of their shorthanded opponents in a true goal fest over on the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground.

All the goals came inside forty first half minutes, before the game was stopped early in the second half as One Caribbean’s goalkeeper got injured, leaving his side with too few players to continue.

Rolland Roberts opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, Jorge Gonzalez scored a brace in the 6th and 17th minutes, after German Gonzalez had made it 3-0 in the 10th minute, Oswort Holder made it 6-0 in the 14th minute. Mohammed Kachour made it 7-0 with the first of his brace in the 23rd minute, Romaine Henry scored the 8th in the 34th minute, Derrol Redhead put his name in the goals for tally to make it 9-0 in the 36th and Kachour rounded out the scoring in the 40th minute to make it 10-0.

VG Utd had a comfortable win in the earlier game on the VGRG overcoming Old Madrid FC 3-1 with goals from Jaden Abrams in the 17th and 20th minutes and Marvin Browne in the 44th.

Nano Ottley pulled one back for OM in the 36th minute.

“An exceptionally good game, in which we could have scored more” commented Coach Jermaine Abrams “we kept the ball really well and I’m proud of the team”

Panthers FC were indebted to the returning Wayne Phillip, fresh from being with the National Women’s team as Coach on their debut in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, as he recorded a hattrick in the 4-2 win against Woues, scoring in the  25th, 34th and 83rd minutes, after Noel Maxwell had twice put Wolues FC ahead with strikes in the 15th and 33rd minutes. Jhan Labega was also on the score sheet for Panthers.

“It was a hard-fought game” noted Phillips “we put in a good team effort, moving the ball around, being aggressive up top and creating chances.”

In the other games played, One Love United beat Lion Heart FC, 6-4, with goals for the winners coming from Abner Villanueva (goal P.K 10min), Zeron Samuels (goal 61min),

Brent Bowman (goals 63,89min) and Alcise Savery (goal 81min). Whilst for the losers,

Ryan Blagrove (Own Goal 32min), Shevon Thomas (goals 34,76mins), and Dwayne Smith (Goal 68min, P.K 90+1 min) were on the score sheet

“We started off on the front foot but got a bit lackadaisical in the second half.” Commented Marc Savage of One Love “despite the complacency I felt we were in charge of the game with possession, and we will look to continue that domination for the rest of the season”

Rebels FC also continued their rich vein of form with a 2-0 win over Islanders FC, with the opener scored by Oral Perry in the 69th minute. Islanders came hard looking for an equalizer, but Curtly Peters ensured all three points with a second goal for Rebels deep into added time at the end of the game
