Panthers FC, One Love FC, and Sugar Boys FC combined for seventeen unanswered goals as the National League drew to a close on Sunday evening at East End / Long Look.
First up was the continuation of the rivalry between this seasons Champions, Sugar Boys and defending 2020/21 Champions, Islanders FC, which was won 7-0 by the VG based team.
Romaine Henry opened the scoring in just the 12th minute, and it was 3-0 by half time as both German Gonzalez and Derol Redhead found the back of the net. Further second half goals came Terrence Nanton and Andres Bailey before Gonzalez and Henry both scored again to make it 7-0.
“Islanders started the game with nine and it was pretty much a one sided game, but we know the rivalry between us, so we went out determined to finish strong against them” commented Redhead “ we also needed to make sure we went into the Presidents Cup full of confidence so played very positively as a team and although they put up a fight it wasn’t the usual competitive game”
One Love FC finished their season in style with a 5-0 rout of Old Madrid FC as Zoran Samuel, Chavaughn Williams, Rushedo Robinson and talisman, Richard Morgan (2) were all on the score sheet.
“A wonderful way to finish the season” noted Manager Marc Savage “we were dominant and played with confidence, which hopefully we can build upon going forward”
To wrap up the season Panthers FC had a second half hat trick from Nigel Sanderson to thank for a convincing 5-0 victory over Lion Heart FC. Sanderson scored in the 46th, 54th and 2nd minute of added time at the end of the game, whilst League Golden Boot, Wayne Phillips opened the scoring in the 22nd minute for his 24th goal of the season. Sheldon Harry also scored.
“I’m very proud of the team” stated Player Coach Phillips “we have worked hard all season and it was an excellent performance to win this game. The future is very bright for our squad, and I am very proud to have scored the most goals this season”
Next up for the top four finishers is the Presidents Cup 2022, which is sees the semi finals between Sugar Boys FC and Rebels FC followed by Panthers FC against Wolues FC at East End / Long Look on June 19th from 6.30pm
