As VG Utd were taking care of business with a 7-0 win over Lion Heart FC last weekend, the Sugar Boys FC reignited their campaign, beating the high flying Wolues FC 2-0.

With their respective victories, both the Virgin Gorda based teams are yet to be beaten in The National League with VG Utd top on 22 points and Sugar Boys now moving back up to fourth on 13.

A brace of goals from Jadon Quashie, giving him nine on the season, put VG well on their way to all three points in their game with Lion Heart and further strikes came from Devante Sammuel, T’Khoi Richardson, Joel Mars, Kijuan Nimblett, and Thomas Albert.

“We had a good game plan which our opponents didn’t deal with” commented Manager Jermain Abrams “we stuck with same players into the second half and were able to capitalize on our first half goals with almost all the subs scoring. The team worked hard and from start to finish never let Lion Heart get a foothold in the game.”

Sugar Boys’ three points may well prove crucial in the race for the Championship, as they overcame the second placed, Wolues, who suffered a first defeat in six games following a first game of the season loss to VG Utd.

Derol Redhead opened the scoring in the first half and Rashad Boyce made sure of all three points with his second half strike.

“It was a very important win for us” commented Redhead “we are fully aware of the points situation and know what the Wolues were capable of, having developed their team over the years and always giving us a run for the money. However, we knew what we needed to do, and the early goal was crucial.

We are setting ourselves up nicely for the second half of the season and we will definitely be in the mix for the title.”

Elsewhere, One Love FC were the recipients of a walkover win from Positive FC and the Islanders routed Old Madrid FC 14-0 to cement themselves into third place on 17 points. Oswort Holder netted a hat trick, whilst Antonio Rodney, Collin Lavia and McTair James all scored twice, with the rest of the goals coming from Sheldon Harry Junior and Shamar Lawdon.
