The unbeaten Anguilla team were crowned Champions of the FA’s U15 Boys Triangular Tournament at the weekend after they defeated the BVI 1-0 in the final game competition at East End / Long Look on Sunday 16th April.
Going into the game, the hosts had to record a win to catch the Anguillans who had already won their three games played, including a 2-0 victory over the BVI, and two wins, 1-0 and 3-1 against the third team in the tournament, the USVI.
Ultimately it proved a step too far for the BVI as they went down 1-0 to finish second, whilst the USVI were third.
In earlier games, the BVI recorded a double over the USVI, with Othniel Gillings scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win that set up the grand finale with Anguilla. The BVI had opened the tournament with a 6-0 victory over the same opponents, with kyle Farrington scoring twice, and Temauri Nanton, Blake Kirk, Gillings, along with Jaheim Bijai once.
The BVI were then downed 0-2 by Anguilla, who also recorded two victories over the USVI, 1-0 and 3-1.
The individual award winners were
Golden boot 6 – Nicholson Millington 2 (Othniel Gillings and kyle Farrington also on 2 but millington was in winning team)
Golden glove – shemar Browne Anguilla
MVP – Otneill Gillings BVI
