There were goals in plentiful supply as the FA Men’s National League kicked off last weekend, 19/10/24 with Lion Heart F.C. and Wolues F.C hitting their opponents for six

Wolues got the new season underway with a 6-2 drubbing of archrivals One Love F.C as last season’s Golden Boot winner, Hugo Lizario netting a brace. Marcus Robinson also scored twice whilst the other goals came from Phil Nelson and Alexander Edwards.

“Important to get off to a good start so we are delighted with a win” commented Nelson. “The first half went very well; we tried a new formation which was a bit of a risk, but it really suited the players we had available. We dominated the possession and created a lot of chances. The second half was a bit messy, and they came back improved and got a couple of goals. The team showed great composure to get the performance back on track and we capped it off with two late goals.”

The performance though wasn’t enough to see the defending Champs go to top of the table as that honour fell to Lion Heart F.C. who beat the new boys, Avengers F.C., 6-0. Shevaughn Thomas netted the seasons first hat trick, Tavoy Thomas scored twice, and Justic Browne was also on the score sheet.

VG United also had a comfortable start to the campaign, running out 4-0 winners against Panthers F.C.

“It was a good game overall and the result what was we expected” noted Manager of VG Utd Jermain Abrams “the boys played well from front to back and a clean sheet was important as well. It is early in the season, but we are still learning as a team and the Coaches, Richie Morton and Glenn Bascombe have the boys playing how they want them too.”

Jaadon Quashie, Davante Samuel and Own Goal and Levon Williams were all on the score sheet.

The Rebels F.C. came away from Virgin Gorda with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Sugar Boys F.C. as Curtly Peters netted the winner after McGraw Baptiste had cancelled out the opener scored by Rebels’ Sheldon Toney.

Positive F.C. and Old Madrid F.C. shared a five-goal thriller with Positive hanging on for all three points, winning 3-2 after reaching half time three goals to the good.

Anthony Greene with two and Jean Wilhelm Jeudy all scored before the break, but Richard Welcome made it 3-1 from the penalty spot and Kenmore Simmons got the fans’ juice flowing as he made it 3-2 with two minutes of normal time to go.
