Early football games in the British Virgin Islands were between British Royal Navy crew, and expatriates. In 1968, the British Virgin Islands team was founded by a team of Royal Engineers, and soon after, in 1973 the British Virgin Islands Football Association was founded. In 1974, it was affiliated by FIFA.
In the early 70’s matches were arranged between St Thomas and St Croix and the Association formed.
In 1986 the National Team won the Leeward Islands Championship.
The BVIFA oversees the administration of British Virgin Islands‘s football leagues; the BVIFA_National_Football_League, FA Women’s League, FA National Youth Leagues and the FA Futsal League as well as the FA Festival Cup, FA Big Four and other FA Sanctioned Tournaments
The FA has been a full member of CONCACAF and FIFA since 1974.
The BVI Football Association is the governing body of football in the British Virgin Islands.The Association is also responsible for the British_Virgin_Islands_national_football_team.
